Youth Education Media
When I had the opportunity to assist with Confirmation II education, I didn’t want to miss this service opportunity. I myself just went through confirmation classes a few years ago and I knew what I would do differently to connect with young people in the way they like to learn. I coordinated with the Catechists and reviewed their media and suggested some great thematic social media style videos from well known Catholic priests who follow Magisterium while also attracting followers! Fr. Mike, Father Leo, Jesuit Homilies in a Minute etc as well as creating a great atmosphere with faith worship music and movie clips! PLUS I had the opportunity to run all the media through the St Timothy Church state of the art theater! I even recruited some of my Cub and Catholic brothers and sisters in high school to assist me in production and coordination.
Minding the Standard
Sometimes creativity needs to be pinned to standards that need to take priority. I’m a creator and a writer but sometimes I need to reign in my interest to make a splash with what a client wants delivered. This project provided an opportunity to make sure that everything on the screen aligned with the Archdiocese of LA guidelines on confirmation education. It was very Sacrament oriented, so every media I found needed to be from well established authority (priests, deacons and Orders) and approved by the Cathectist leaders. It was an interesting editorial process that I now include in my project outlines.
