History: During pandemic we didn’t have many service hour opportunities. Our only way to connect was online. That was hard because I’m pretty social and one of my favorite things about service is when I do it together with my friends. So while playing Minecraft online with my friends (and overhearing my Dad talking about Habitat for Humanity cancelling volunteer build days during pandemic), I came up with the idea of creating a virtual build day fundraiser where kids could play games together - get their service hours - and raise much needed funds for Habitat for Humanity of Greater LA. I completely organized and Habitat opened one of their donation portals for funding! Even merch! I was hooked that my creative talents could be used as a force for good. Anavo was born!
